PlayStation 5 users are having a fair bit of issues with Fallout 4 lately as the game seems to be continuously crashing on startup. This is not allowing them to boot it up and enjoy the title in any way. This is happening because the DLCs of the title are currently bugged. So if you own the additional content that the game has to offer on your console, then Fallout 4 will keep crashing for you.

What makes this issue one of the more annoying errors to deal with is the fact that you will have to delete the DLC from your system to fix it. This means you will not have access to the additional content of the game until Bethesda comes in and fixes it with a patch.

Below is the workaround that you can try to deal with the “crashing on startup” error for Fallout 4 on your PS5.

As mentioned, the only way to deal with the Fallout 4 crashing error will be to delete the DLCs from your PS5. Here is how you can go about doing so:

  • Select Fallout 4 from the home screen and then press the Options button. Now navigate to “Manage Game Content”.
  • Here you will see all the DLCs that have been added to your system. You will need to select then and then hit on the Delete option.
  • Now exit the Options menu and then relaunch the game. The title will likely not be crashing for you any longer.

An alternate way of doing this will be to re-install the game without downloading the DLCs with it.

  • Delete Fallout 4 from your PS5, and then go to your store to download it again.
  • Once the installation starts you will get a prompt if you want to install the additional DLCs as well.
  • Untick the DLC boxes and proceed with the download. Make sure that you have turned off auto updates for the game once the installation is completed or else the the game will automatically start downloading the additional content.

Apart from removing the DLCs from your system, there is no other way to deal with the crashing issue on your PS5. However, if you are not willing to enjoy Bethesda’s title without your purchased additional content, then it’s advised that you wait for the upcoming hotfix.
