IPL 6: Three Rajasthan Royal players arrested for spot-fixing

According to reports, a few top players who play for Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League have been arrested for spot-fixing.

Sreesanth, Ankeet Chavan and Ajit Chandila of Rajasthan Royals have reportedly been arrested by the Delhi police after they are said to be involved in spot-fixing. The news comes out when the highly glamorous IPL comes to its final stages.

Seven bookies are also said to have been arrested regarding the same matter.

Rajasthan Royals have released the following statement:

“We have been informed that 3 of our players have been called in for investigation on spot fixing in matches. We are completely taken by surprise. We do not have the full facts at this point and are unable to confirm anything. We are in touch with the BCCI on this matter. We will fully cooperate with the authorities to ensure a thorough investigation. The management at Rajasthan Royals has a zero-tolerance approach to anything that is against the spirit of the game.”

According to BCCI sources, the Spot fixing case is to be referred to Disciplinary Committee of the BCCI for further action.

UPDATE:

The BCCI has subsequently suspended the three players.

According to BCCI sources, all players found guilty will be banned for life.
