The 31-year-old also went past Virat Kohli as the leading run-getter for India in T20Is, ending second on the list of most runs in the format, just behind Martin Guptill.

Leading the side in the absence of Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma hit eight fours and seven sixes, powering the side to 195-2 in 20 overs.

The All India Gaming Federation (AIGF) has written a letter to Narendra Modi, the Prime Minister of India, requesting him to recognize Indian captain Virat Kohli's efforts for the national side and considering him for the Bharat Ratna, India's highest honour.

The 30-year-old Kohli recently became just the fifth Indian batsman to complete 10,000 ODI runs and has been in a great run of form over the last two years.

In 2014, Indian legend Sachin Tendulkar was conferred the Bharat Ratna, India's highest civilian award, for his services to the nation, months after he retired from the game.

"It's the biggest honour for me and I am extremely delighted on receiving the Bharat Ratna," Tendulkar had said.

In 2017, Kohli was conferred the Padma Shri.

Reports suggest that Jaipur is likely to host the IPL 2019 auctions to be held on December 17 and 18 this year. The last auctions were held in Bangalore.

There is still no clarity whether the IPL will be held in India, or abroad, because of the general elections in the country. UAE and South Africa are two of the top contenders for the same.

"We ideally want to get a clarity on the venue before getting into the auction. That will help us plan accordingly and get our choice of players," one of the franchise owners was quoted as saying by Sportstar.

Former Indian batsmen Sunil Gavaskar and Sanjay Manjrekar escape a serious accident after a part of the commentary box collapsed at the Atal Bihari Vajpayee International Cricket Stadium in Lucknow, the venue for the second T20I between India and West Indies.

The stadium is hosting an international game after 24 years.

Doing commentary duties for the broadcasters, Gavaskar and Manjrekar escaped unhurt after one of the glass doors shattered just before they entered the room.

"One of the glass doors just crumbled like a pack of cards but luckily no one sustained any injuries. All are safe," Manjrekar later told PTI.
