Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) all-rounder Marcus Stoinis got an absolute peach of a delivery from Rajasthan Royals (RR) pacer Sandeep Sharma and had to depart for a duck during the IPL 2024 game between the two teams at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow on Saturday.

Sandeep bowled a beautiful inswinger pitching on good length and that beat Stoinis all ends up. The ball was so good that Stoinis' facial expressions after getting cleaned up showed how impressed he was with the delivery.

Marcus Stoinis was the hero for LSG in their previous game as his scintillating hundred at No.3 helped Lucknow beat the Chennai Super Kings. However, Sandeep also came into the game on the back of a match-winning fifer and showed his class with an absolute beauty.

KL Rahul and Deepak Hooda consolidate LSG's innings

RR got off to a fantastic start as Trent Boult cleaned up Quinton de Kock despite being hit for a couple of boundaries in the first over. Stoinis' wicket put the Royals right on top and the hosts needed some resilience.

Skipper KL Rahul was then joined by Deepak Hooda at the crease and the duo gradually began to shift the pressure back on the RRb bowlers. Runs began to flow from both ends and the LSG batters forced skipper Sanju samson to make some changes in his plans.

The partnership of 115 runs between Hooda and Rahul has put Lucknow in a great position despite the former departing for 50 off 31 balls. Nicholas Poorann has just walked out to bat at the time of writing and with Rahul on 60*, Lucknow have the perfect platform needed to explode and try and get past that 200-run mark.

The Royals will need to break the partnership between Rahul and Pooran to gain a grip over the first innings.
