Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) stalwart Virat Kohli's wife, Anushka Sharma, celebrated joyously in the stands after a sensational victory in the IPL 2024 match against Chennai Super Kings (CSK). The M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru played host to the contest on Saturday, May 18. Courtesy of their sixth consecutive win, the Royal Challengers reached the playoffs by sealing the fourth spot on the points table.

Faf du Plessis (54), Virat Kohli (47), Cameron Green (38), and Rajat Patidar (41) set the tone for the home team in the first innings by powering them to 218/5. Rachin Ravindra (61) and Ravindra Jadeja (42*) then tried their best to keep CSK in the hunt along with Ajinkya Rahane (33) and MS Dhoni (25). However, they could only reach 191/7 in 20 overs and lost by 27 runs.

Anushka Sharma cheered on Virat Kohli and the RCB team passionately throughout the match from the stands. She was elated after the Bengaluru team notched up the victory in the final over and was spotted celebrating emotionally with a double fist pump.

"It's been amazing and I experienced an unbelievable atmosphere"- RCB captain Faf du Plessis

At the post-match presentation, Faf du Plessis reflected on the win and said:

"It's been amazing and I experienced an unbelievable atmosphere. I thank the fans and we are grateful for the RCB fans. We will soak the applause, celebrate and get back to work tomorrow. Our first goal before the start of the IPL is to qualify for the knockouts and we have done that."

Du Plessis shared his Player of the Match award with Yash Dayal and praised the pacer's performance by saying:

"The last over that Dayal bowled was unbelievable and he equally deserves the Man of the match. So, I want to share this with him. I felt like the yorkers wasn't working so I told him to go back to your strengths, which is a slow ball."

RCB will be back in action on Wednesday (May 22), when they face SRH/RR in the eliminator of IPL 2024 in Ahmedabad.
