"There's a reason why you've done it for 15 years"- Virat Kohli takes a dig at strike-rate critics after GT vs RCB IPL 2024 match

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) batter Virat Kohli lashed out at his critics following his team's nine-wicket win over Gujarat Titans (GT) in Ahmedabad on Sunday, April 28.

Speaking to the host broadcaster after the game, Kohli was asked whether he gave special attention to his achievements and numbers. The veteran batter didn't mince his words while indirectly taking a dig at those in the cricketing fraternity who were questioning his strike rate.

Here's what Virat Kohli said:

"For me, it's about winning the games for the team and there's a reason why you've done it for 15 years, you've done this day in and day out, you've won games for your teams. I'm not quite sure, if you haven't been in that situation yourself, to sit and talk about the game from the box."

Kohli remained unbeaten on 70 off 44 balls and also completed 500 runs in the IPL 2024 season at a strike rate of 147.49 and an average of 71.43.

Virat Kohli on Will Jacks' carnage

While Virat Kohli played a fine knock, the star of the show was Will Jacks who scored a blistering maiden IPL hundred off just 41 balls.

Playing at run-a-ball 16 at one stage, Jacks scored a staggering 84 runs in his next 25 balls to help RCB complete the 201-run chase with four overs to spare.

Kohli's reaction to Jacks' sixes off Rashid Khan showed how much he enjoyed the carnage from the non-striker's end. Here's what he had to say about it:

"My role completely changed as soon as he got that big over off Mohit, for good. I was glad to be watching the game from the other end. I mean, I thought we could win the game in 19 overs, but to finish it in 16 overs was an outstanding effort. I think it was one of the better T20 hundreds one would ever see, I was just happy to watch it closely from the other end."

The Gujarat Titans couldn't respond to the carnage from Jacks and Kohli and were blown away in the second innings.
