Chennai Super Kings (CSK) notched up a decent total of 212/3 in the first innings of the IPL 2024 match against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on Sunday (April 28) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
SRH captain Pat Cummins won the toss and opted to bowl first on a flat surface. Chennai opener Ajinkya Rahane struggled to get going as he scored 9 (12) before perishing in the third over.
CSK captain Ruturaj Gaikwad then took the onus on himself and injected momentum into the innings with an impactful half-century. Daryl Mitchell complemented him well with a fifty of his own, as the duo put on 107 runs for the second wicket.
After Mitchell's departure in the 14th over, Shivam Dube came in and played a brisk cameo of 39* (20), providing the finishing touches for the hosts. Ruturaj Gaikwad smashed his way to 98 (54) at the other end before getting dismissed on the second ball of the final over. MS Dhoni came in at the end and scored 5* (2) as CSK ended with 212 on the board.
