Team India's apparel partner, Nike unveiled India's jersey today in an event ahead of the 2019 World Cup.
Its been a tradition that whenever there is Cricket World Cup, the Indian team sports a new jersey. The 2019 World Cup is set to begin late in May in England. With the World Cup just under 100 days away, the new jersey was launched today for both the men's and women's teams.
Indian captain Virat Kohli and former Indian captain MS Dhoni officially launched the jersey. The other Indian cricketers included the likes of Harmanpreet Kaur, Jemimah Rodrigues, Ajinkya Rahane and Prithvi Shaw.

Here is what Kohli said during the launch as quoted in the Quint:
"Like earlier designs, Nike has again decided to make the jersey from recycled material. This time around it is recycled polyester and blue continues to be the primary colour and orange as the secondary. In fact, the jersey features two shades of blue. A darker shade on the torso, while a lighter one on the sleeves, with India written across the chest in the familiar flouroscent orange shade. There are also orange streaks at the side of the jersey and under the collar."
For the 2015 World Cup, Nike had made the jersey with recycled bottles, and this time they have used the recycled polyester to make the jersey. It has been a great initiative by India's apparel partner. It sends a clear message across industries about the positivity it brings to the environment by making things using recycled materials.
The three stars at the back of the jersey signify India's three major trophy wins -- the maiden World Cup won in 1983 under Kapil Dev, the 2007 inaugural World T20 and the 2011 World Cup won under MS Dhoni. It also has the dates and scores of all three finals.
The mega event is set to begin in England on 30th May, and the first game for India will happen against South Africa on 5th June.
