# In 1870, Tom Richardson (England) was born. He completed 50 wickets in his 7th Test. He is the second fastest to take 50 Test wickets behind Charlie Turner who did it in 6 Tests. Vernon Philander also did it in 7 Tests.

# In 1884, the first double-century partnership was completed in Tests. The pair was Billy Murdoch and Tup Scott who added 207 for the 3rd wicket. On the next day, 12th of August, Billy Murdoch completed his double century and became the first ever player to score a double hundred in Test cricket.

# In 1909, Warren Bardsley (Australia) became the first player to score two centuries in a Test match. He scored 136 & 130 vs England at the Oval. Till date, 59 players have done it on 72 occasions.

# In 1954, Yashpal Sharma (India) was born. He was one of the 11 players who played the 1983 World Cup final which India won.

# In 1965, Bill Woodfull (Australia) died. He was the Australian captain in the 1932/33 Bodyline series. He regained Ashes for Australia in England in 1930 and 1934.

# In 1974, Anju Jain (India) was born. She was India’s captain in 2000 Women’s World Cup in which India finished as the semi-finalists. In 2005 World Cup where India were the runner ups, she was part of the team.

Geoffrey Boycott celebrating his 100th first-class hundred

# In 1977, Geoffery Boycott (England) scored his 100th first-class hundred in a Test against Australia at his home ground Headingley, Leeds. He scored 191 in this Ashes Test which England won by an innings & 85 runs to regain the Ashes. He is still the only player to score his 100th first-class 100 in a Test match. In all, he scored 151 first-class 100s.

Marcus Trescothick became Shane Warne’s 600th Test wicket

# In 2005, Shane Warne (Australia) became the first player to reach the milestone of 600 Test wickets. His 600th Test victim was Marcus Trescothick (Eng) at Old Trafford, Manchester.
