Evan Carter not getting ahead of things despite Rangers' early ALCS lead against Astros - "It's not over yet"

Texas Rangers' star rookie Evan Carter said it's not yet over after their impressive Game 1 victory in the American League Championship Series against the Houston Astros. The Texans went on to win the game 2-0 after some impeccable pitching and defensive work on Sunday, October 15.

Carter expressed his excitement following a meteoric rise in his playing career, saying that he was enjoying the game, while also being wary of their opponents from Houston.

Evan Carter was selected by the Texas Rangers in the 2020 MLB Draft and was assigned to the Down East Wood Ducks in his first season. He went on to make his major league debut for them last month, impressing in the final weeks of the regular season to make the postseason roster for the Rangers. Since then, the left fielder has been a valuable part of the lineup in his rookie season.

The 21-year-old was called into action early on Sunday evening, with Alex Bregman hit into left field which the youngster caught without a problem. He then went on to hit a double into right field in the top of the second. A Jonah Heim single then allowed him to score and put the Rangers on the scoreboard. Leody Taveras doubled the lead with a solo home run in the fifth, which was enough to win the game.

Despite the win, there is plenty of baseball to play before the World Series and Carter is well aware of that. He said (via Dallas News):

"I'm just having fun, that's what it's all about. We're playing a game. and it's a fun one, too. I'm just out here having a great time. I have a lot of great teammates around me. We enjoy coming to work every day competing. It's not over yet.’’

While Evan Carter has certainly been a revelation for the Texas Rangers this season, the rookie left fielder left the fans speechless after an incredible catch in the ALCS game against the Houston Astros. It came in the eighth inning when Alex Bregman launched a huge hit deep into left field and the rookie tracked the ball into the stands before making a leaping catch.

The youngster has been in tremendous form in his short time in the MLB, keeping excellent defensive discipline to help his bullpen.
