Hawthorn legend Jason Dunstall has reacted to Geelong Cats' shellacking at the hands of Gold Coast Suns on Thursday, May 16. The Cats were thumped 164-100 by the Suns, which has left many stunned including AFL Legend, Dunstall.

In what was expected to be a tight showdown at the TIO Stadium, Gold Coast showed superiority over a weak Geelong, inflicting a third consecutive loss on Chris Scott's side.

The Suns dominated the tie with a resounding performance, most notably in the second and third quarters, where they recorded a 36 (44-8) and 33-point (50-17) win margin over the Cats.

By the sound of the final siren, the Suns recorded their biggest scoreline in AFL history, while the Cats succumbed to their highest score ever conceded in the Chris Scott era.

The manner and ease at which Geelong conceded on the night alarmed AFL great Jason Dunstall who voiced his concerns on Fox Footy after the game. Dunstall said:

“That’s a massive score to concede – and it was the ease in which some of the goals were scored I think would be the most concerning part for the people in charge down at Geelong, the coaches and even the fans who would’ve sat there and gone ‘this is not Geelong’ just conceding walk-in goals."

Geelong was termed premiership favorites after a seven-match winning streak at the start of the season. However, their current form, coupled with this thrashing from Gold Coast, cast a shadow on this claim.

Gold Coast Suns continue terrific form at TIO Stadium in a massive 64-point victory over Geelong Cats

The Gold Coast Suns continued their terrific form at the TIO Stadium, thumping Geelong Cats by 64 points at the Darwin venue. The Suns have not lost at the TIO Stadium since the start of 2021, recording six consecutive wins at the ground gradually becoming a fortress for the club.

Thursday night's 164-100 victory was the Gold Coast Suns' biggest win over the Geelong Cats. Additionally, the Suns' scoreline (164) is the highest scoreline by any team this season, the biggest in their club history and the highest ever by any team at the TIO Stadium.

The win sees the Suns move into sixth in the AFL standings with a 6-4 record. The Cats, on the flip side, could drop as low as seventh by the end of Round 10 following the loss.
