AEW Double or Nothing is right around the corner. For an event of this size, there needs to be something that gets the people talking long after the show is done. Tony Khan can do just that by pulling off a big swerve.

The president of AEW should turn a WWE veteran heel and change the dynamics of the company and the roster in general. The star in question is none other than Mercedes Mone. The former Sasha Banks made her way to the company amidst much fanfare, but that has not been translated to success for various reasons.

She needs a big change to her character, and turning her heel at Double or Nothing will be the perfect place to start.

1. Babyface run not really working

Mercedes Mone joined the company amidst a lot of fanfare, and it was obvious to see why that was the case. She is a household name in the wrestling world with a wealth of experience.

Despite that, her current run as a babyface is just not resonating with the fans, and that has to do with the CEO gimmick. Turning her heel will be great for her character development and will also set up various other storylines, especially with Tony Khan being absent through injury.

2. Willow Nightingale is a better natural babyface

Another reason why her face turn is not working is because her opponent, Willow Nightingale, is a better and more natural babyface overall. Nightingale also resonates with the fans, given that she has been with the company for longer.

It is evident from how the fans have been reacting each time the two are in the ring. There have been cheers for the TBS Champion, which is making things awkward for Mercedes Mone, given that she is being pushed as a face.

3. Mercedes Mone getting preferential treatment in AEW

Mercedes Mone’s CEO gimmick is one that is narcissistic and perfectly suits a heel. She has not wrestled even one match since joining AEW, and the very first match she is having is for the TBS title.

Fans may have taken that as her getting preferential treatment, and that could be the reason why her run as a babyface has not been successful so far. A heel Mercedes Mone potentially teaming up with the Elite to get even more preferential treatment would be great for storyline purposes.
