Former AEW champion to return after 2 months and confront RVD on Dynamite? Exploring the possibility

RVD (aka Rob Van Dam) is a multi-time champion

Multi-time world champion Rob Van Dam (RVD) is scheduled to compete on the upcoming episode of AEW. He could be confronted by his former opponent if the latter returns from his suspension after two months.

At the All In event on August 27, 2023, Jack Perry lost his FTW Championship to Hook. During the match, Perry took a real-life shot at CM Punk, resulting in a heated backstage altercation. Later, AEW President Tony Khan took a drastic decision to terminate Punk's contract while indefinitely suspending Perry for his actions.

The former AEW World Tag Team Champion has been away from the company's programming since the London event. Before his suspension, Perry feuded with top names like Hook and RVD. On this week's Dynamite, the Hall of Famer will combine forces with The Handsome Devil to take on John Silver and Alex Reynolds of the Dark Order in a tag team encounter.

Perry could return during RVD's upcoming match and rekindle their feud. He has much history with Hook and the former WWE Champion, which could allow AEW to produce a compelling program.

There are no reports or confirmation on when Jack Perry will return. However, if he makes his comeback to confront RVD, it could be a genuinely shocking moment for fans.

Van Dam's first-ever AEW opponent was Perry. He unsuccessfully challenged the upstart for the FTW Title on an episode of Dynamite.

RVD praised Jack Perry after his first AEW match against him

After their first encounter earlier this year on Dynamite, RVD praised Perry for his performance. He also recalled meeting the upstart when he was a kid.

On his One of a Kind podcast, Van Dam said:

"I thought he was really good. I saw him when he was training. When I lived in LA, Katie [Forbes] would train at Santino Brothers, and sometimes I would go there with her, mostly just stretch, and Jungle Boy was there, training and stuff. Obviously, he’s come a long way since then. He’s comfortable out there, smooth, timing. Boom. He cheated, bro. [laughs] What do you want me to say? Also, I met him when he was a little kid when I met his dad. Luke was [a] wrestling fan, so when we were at the Staples Center, it was probably 2001, I remember meeting Luke Perry and his little kid." [H/T Wrestling Headlines]

It will be interesting to see if the creative team will book Jack Perry and RVD to come face-to-face again.
