In the lead-up to tonight's WWE SummerSlam pay-per-view, one of the most highly-awaited matches that finally came to fruition was the bout between "The Monday Night Messiah" Seth Rollins and the debuting Dominik Mysterio.
The buildup to The Biggest Party of the Summer saw Seth Rollins keeping himself engaged in a feud against The Mysterio Family and it all initially started when the former WWE Universal Champion set his sights on the legend Rey Mysterio himself. After tormenting Mysterio for months, Seth Rollins gouged the eyes of the Master of the 619 at the recent Horror Show at Extreme Rules pay-per-view. And that particular move of his eventually led to Dominik Mysterio stepping up to the plate and challenging Seth Rollins to a match at this year's SummerSlam.

While Rollins might've walked out as the winner at the WWE ThunderDome, Dominik Mysterio certainly proved that he can hang with the very best in the company. Despite the loss, the latter has nothing to be ashamed of, especially after a performance of such good measure.
There is still a lot that could happen in a feud that has already proven to be such a vital factor on Monday Night RAW, or WWE could decide not to over-extend it, and finally move on from The Mysterios vs Seth Rollins. Here are five directions for Seth Rollins after his triumphant win at the ThunderDome and thoughts on where The Messiah could be heading from here on.
#5. Tag Team Match between Rey & Dominik vs Rollins & Murphy at WWE Payback
WWE Payback is only a week from SummerSlam and chances are WWE could extend this feud for one more week. The creative team has been on-point with this particular rivalry and WWE could easily rely on them to book things accordingly for the next week, at least.
The likely decision from here on would be to have Rey Mysterio make his return to in-ring competition, especially given that he had a first-row seat to witnessing his son being absolutely demolished at the hands of Rollins and Murphy. Rey would definitely love to get his hands on the two men and to get some retribution with his son Dominik in his corner.
#4. Focus on his WWE faction
Seth Rollins' faction has had its ups and downs on WWE Monday Night RAW. However, one man who has been with The Monday Night Messiah all throughout this journey is Murphy. However, there is no doubt that Rollins would love to add a few more loyal disciples to his group, men whom he could equally trust while he goes to war.
Initially, Seth Rollins had both Rezar and Akam of the tag team AOP as part of his faction. However, due to injury issues for the former RAW Tag Team Champions, Rollins was forced to lose two of his key men, men who were considered as the powerhouse of his faction. Shortly afterward, in came Austin Theory, however, over the course of the past few weeks, Theory has also been written off WWE TV, leaving Rollins with only Murphy by his side.
With the likes of RETRIBUTION and The Hurt Business having an advantage in terms of the numbers game, Seth Rollins would also love to add a member or two to his faction. And in order to continue his road to success on RAW, The Monday Night Messiah could start recruiting moving forward.
#3. Chase the WWE RAW Tag Team Championships
In the past, Seth Rollins and Murphy have already held the WWE RAW Tag Team Championships but on the back of a win of such big measure, the duo could possibly set their sights on some much-needed gold (or, silver in this case).
As usual, the RAW Tag Team Division is still thin and would welcome the addition of another dominant tag team. And that tag team could be the duo of Rollins and Murphy reintroducing themselves to the likes of The Street Profits and ithers. At SummerSlam, the duo of Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins did retain their tag titles over Angel Garza and Andrade, however, this might be the right time to shake things up in the division once again.
Having singles competitors such as Andrade and Garza team up on a regular basis to form a long-term tag team seems unsustainable. Instead, WWE could cash in on the dynamic duo of Seth Rollins and Murphy, who have also developed quite the chemistry with one another as an alliance over the course of the past few months.
#2. Set up Samoa Joe's WWE return
In the lead up the SummerSlam match between Seth Rollins and Dominik Mysterio, WWE has included several important components to the feud between the pair, among them teasing the possibility of a return for Samoa Joe.
Samoa Joe has been on commentary for some time now on Monday Night RAW. However, in the lead up to this match, he did have a moment for himself when he stepped up to Seth Rollins on a recent episode of RAW. In doing so, Joe teased a potential return. Additionally, the former United States Champion has had his fair share of confrontations with Dominik Mysterio, as well. During Joe's United States title feud with Rey Mysterio, the former did have quite an interesting exchange with the latter's son and with Seth Rollins currently running rampant on RAW, The Monday Night Messiah could play a huge role in leading to the return of Samoa Joe.
Both Joe and Rollins have also feuded in the past on WWE's main roster but things could be a lot different and a lot more interesting with the roles being reversed on this occasion.
#1. Step up for the WWE Championship
Tonight's win at SummerSlam suggested that Seth Rollins is ready to win any match by hook or crook in WWE right now and being on the back of another huge win at The Biggest Party of the Summer, a shot at the WWE Championship is something on Rollins' mind.
Earlier in the year, Seth Rollins did challenge for the WWE Championship when he faced Drew McIntyre at the Money in the Bank pay-per-view in what was one of the best championship matches of the year. However, as things stand, Seth Rollins has upped his game within these past few months and the former Universal Champion is a whole new man, or Messiah, as he would say.
Regardless of who the WWE Champion is, having Seth Rollins challenge for the world title would surely be a wise move. And with Murphy in his corner, The Messiah would be the favorite to walk out with the WWE Championship wrapped around his waist whenever he decides to challenge for it.
