WWE Royal Rumble 2020: 5 Betrayals that could happen- Tag team to split up, Faction to end?

Could we possibly see the premature end of this faction?
Could we possibly see the premature end of this faction?

The concept of betrayal is not alien to anyone who watches television and should be familiar to wrestling fans, in particular, because of just how common it is. And honestly, even the most seasoned pro-wrestling fan can be delighted or outraged when a betrayal angle occurs.

Betrayals are almost certainly par for the course with regard to the Royal Rumble pay-per-view considering the nature of the matches. While teamwork may last for a certain period of time, one must remember that it's always every man or woman for himself/herself, for the chance to etch his or her name in history.

So, with that said, here are 5 shocking betrayals that could transpire at the Royal Rumble pay-per-view. Be sure to leave a comment and let me know your thoughts below, ladies and gentlemen.

Even if you think the betrayals I've mentioned are unlikely, please take a moment and let me know!

#5 Sonya Deville eliminates Mandy Rose

We may have already seen a spot from the Royal Rumble and not even realized it thus far. What if, Sonya Deville, who's clearly upset at how much attention Mandy Rose has been paying to Otis is the one who ends up eliminating her best friend? But when this betrayal happens, Otis is at ringside to catch his lady love and win her affections.

I have no idea where this storyline is leading, considering that Heavy Machinery is a tag team and Tucker has been almost forgotten in this whole saga, but one thing that's for sure is that there is a rift being teased between Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville at the moment. And Sonya Deville is a very likely candidate to eliminate Mandy Rose during the course of the Royal Rumble match, from the way things have lined up!

#4 Buddy Murphy eliminates Seth Rollins

Wait! How can Buddy Murphy, who just joined a faction that comprises Seth Rollins and The AoP, turn his back on them, considering that it was a huge step up for him?

The answer is quite simple if you think about it, ladies and gentlemen. Imagine the roar, the pop that he will get when he eliminates his faction member and his stablemate, Seth Rollins, in the Royal Rumble, effectively setting up a feud that can continue all the way up to WrestleMania and well beyond!

The money match here may be one between Seth Rollins and Buddy Murphy, two men who are arguably two of the best professional wrestlers in the whole world at this very moment. This is a match that can make Buddy Murphy into a breakout superstar and it could also give Seth Rollins that elusive 5-star match that we all know that he can have, but one that he hasn't had for a really long time right now.

This premature end to their alliance may just benefit all parties.

#3 John Morrison eliminates The Miz

So, this past week on SmackDown, we saw John Morrison return to the ring in a big way after picking up a win against Big E. The only problem with Morrison's return is that he performed moves that were far flashier than the babyface!

Because John Morrison is such a freak of nature, he is always going to be cheered by the audience if he continues to wrestle in the style he does. And so, the think tank at SmackDown could swerve us all by having him be the man who eliminates The Miz at the Royal Rumble.

I've had a chance to interview John Morrison in the past as well, back when he was in Impact Wrestling, and he's such a naturally likable individual that one immediately thinks of him as a babyface. And because the opposite is true for The Miz, a man I hope to interview someday in the future, this could make for the ideal feud in due time!

Plus, good friends always love to elevate one another.

#2 Alexa Bliss shockingly eliminates Nikki Cross

Even though Alexa Bliss is one of WWE's most popular babyfaces at the moment, there just doesn't seem to be a role for her, except in furthering the ongoing Otis and Mandy Rose saga. Personally, I've always felt that while she can be a great babyface, she does her best work as a heel. Also, many had predicted when they first paired up, that we were headed towards an Alexa Bliss vs. Nikki Cross feud.

So, while Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross could team up for a while in the Royal Rumble, to take out the competition, Alexa Bliss could be the one to eliminate Nikki Cross. This could be the first step towards a heel turn, that could be compounded in the weeks that follow. Bliss can really handle a crowd as a heel and I am pretty certain that she could really get Cross over as a huge babyface when the time is eventually right.

Nikki Cross is doing nothing at all, so this will certainly serve her in the right manner, I believe.

#1 Kevin Owens eliminates Samoa Joe

As great as Samoa Joe is as a babyface, one can't help but miss the edge and the intensity that he had as a heel. His pairing with Kevin Owens is something that has fans excited but for how long is what one wonders, especially if you consider that he was portrayed as someone who doesn't play well with others at all.

Because the Royal Rumble is an environment where every man is looking out for his best interests, I can absolutely imagine Kevin Owens being the man who eliminates Samoa Joe. And this betrayal, after their short-lived friendship, could be the impetus that Samoa Joe needs to turn heel in the weeks that follow.

To me, a match between Kevin Owens and Samoa Joe at WrestleMania is something that will have a lot of fans very excited indeed. These are two men who are exemplary on the microphone and could certainly do a great job, telling a wonderful story.

Kevin Owens eliminating Samoa Joe could be good business all around, in my opinion.
