WWE RAW Preview: January 28th, 2019

E

We're not even 24-hours removed from the Royal Rumble, but what an event it was! Did the runtime go on way too long? Sure. Was the WWE Championship match disappointingly the bathroom break? Absolutely.

However, there's no denying that the Rumble as a whole was a stellar event. It's probably for one simple reason - All the right people won. Asuka established herself as the Queen of SmackDown Live by defeating former champion, Becky Lynch.

Becky Lynch herself ended the night on a great note, entering the Royal Rumble match and going on to win it. Seth Rollins would pick up a Rumble win for the red brand and it comes as no surprise as he was the odds on favourite. However, it would be wrong for us to call his win "easy", because it was anything but that.

Ronda Rousey faced her toughest test to date in Sasha Banks and prevailed. Brock Lesnar overcame Finn Balor in an incredible effort too. Without going back to last night too much, let's look at what's next. Here's what to expect from RAW tonight!

#5. Brock Lesnar triumphantly returns as Universal Champion

Brock Lesnar may have won the Universal Championship against Finn Balor, but the truth is that he didn't really beat Finn Balor as much as he survived against him. Balor didn't show up as the demon, but he took the fight to Lesnar like never before.

It went on less than ten minutes, but Balor knew that he had to be as fast as possible. He would severely injure Lesnar's ribs and worked on it quite a bit. Despite landing the coup-de-grace, he would immediately get caught in Lesnar's Kimura lock.

Post-match, Lesnar attacked Balor, hitting him with suplexes and an F5. The question is if he won, why would he launch a post-match assault? It seems like Lesnar may have a little fear in him. Will Balor be done with Lesnar?

#4. Ronda Rousey's "Rowdy" road to WrestleMania begins

Ronda Rousey has faced tough challenges in WWE yet, but it's safe to say that she never faced anyone on the level of Sasha Banks. It showed as Banks took Rousey to her very limits.

Rousey didn't have a size disadvantage as she did against Nia Jax, but The Boss would prove to be an incredible challenger, as she had answers to almost everything in Rousey's book. Ultimately, it boiled down to who wanted it more. That happened to be the RAW Women's Champion herself.

After the match, there was a bit of a show of respect, and Banks showed the "Four" sign, indicating the Four Horsewomen. We could be in to see a Four Horsewomen vs Four Horsewoman feud sometime in the future.

As for now, Rousey begins her road to WrestleMania, and she has two stops before that. However, don't be surprised if Becky Lynch makes the jump to RAW and immediately announces her intentions to face Rousey at WrestleMania!

#3. The build to Elimination Chamber begins

February 17th is Elimination Chamber. We're just a few weeks away, so don't be surprised if WWE instantly begins the build to the PPV. After all, only one match has been announced - the match to crown the first-ever WWE Women's Tag Team Champions.

Honestly, it's hard to tell if Brock Lesnar is actually going to defend the title or not, but it would make sense for him to do so, otherwise which marquee match will RAW have inside the Chamber? Rousey will likely defend her title inside the steel structure.

It's going to be interesting to see which matches are set up for the chamber. We could see a whole bunch of qualifiers as well. Will Finn Balor have to go back in line and earn another title shot? He probably wouldn't mind doing so.

But honestly, WWE's decision to have two PPVs between Rumble and WrestleMania doesn't seem like a very good idea.

#2. Will the new WWE superstars make an impact?

We saw Lacey Evans make an appearance on the final RAW before the Royal Rumble, and she happened to be the #1 entry as well. However, she didn't last as long as Natalya, who was the clear Iron Woman of the Rumble at 55:58.

However, Evans seems to have joined the RAW Women's division and she could be looking to make a splash right off the bat. Apart from just her, Heavy Machinery are set to make a big impact as well.

EC3 and Lars Sullivan's brands aren't confirmed, but we could be seeing them as early as tonight on RAW. With the road to WrestleMania beginning, WWE likely wants a bunch of fresh faces on television, which is why they might finally focus on the set of NXT call-ups.

Lars Sullivan will hopefully make his long-awaited and much-hyped debut. The question is, who will he go after?

#1. Seth Rollins is ready to burn it down after his Royal Rumble win

WWE Photo

The Architect did it. Seth Rollins finally won the Royal Rumble. It seemed long overdue for him to win one and he finally has the Rumble under his belt. If you think about it, he's almost reached an Edge-level, where he's done it all and won it all.

He's a grand slam champion, a MITB winner, a Royal Rumble winner and has technically main evented WrestleMania as well. However, with his incredible Rumble win, he's set for a date with either Brock Lensar or Daniel Bryan at WrestleMania (granted that they're still champions by then).

However, Rollins' immediate focus isn't going to be that, it's going to be the Intercontinental Champion Bobby Lashley, who assaulted him and sent him through a table after getting eliminated at the Rumble.

However, if they compete, will the Intercontinental title even be on the line? Why would Rollins go for that when he has a guaranteed world title shot? It could be a non-title feud for Rollins
