WWE SmackDown had another exciting show this week, filled with some of the top superstars. Seth Rollins appeared during the episode to build his case for the Universal Championship. Meanwhile, Roman Reigns looked to shoot his next challenger down before locking horns with him.

Lita was also advertised to make an appearance on Friday Night. The WWE Hall of Famer came across a reigning champion on the brand, making a statement before Royal Rumble.

The Usos were looking to find their next challengers for the SmackDown Tag Team Championships. With King Woods out injured, four different teams competed to determine who would take on Jimmy and Jey next.

Natalya was confident of adding another World Record to her name as she battled Aliyah in the ring. However, the newcomer managed to shock Natalya and pick up the quickest win of her career.

Sami Zayn also aimed to get back at Johnny Knoxville this week. However, his night did not end the way he would have wanted it to. Without further ado, let's take a look at the five things WWE SmackDown got right on this week's episode.

#5. The Viking Raiders became The Usos' next challengers on WWE SmackDown

The Usos kicked off this week's episode of WWE SmackDown. Jimmy and Jey introduced a Fatal-Four-Way tag team match to determine the No. 1 contenders to their titles.

Los Lotharios (Angel and Humberto), the team of Cesaro and Mansoor, Jinder Mahal and Shanky, and The Viking Raiders (Erik and Ivar) geared up for the match. The champs delivered Superkicks to Erik and Mansoor before the match even started.

The match had some decent spots to keep it interesting. Mahal and Cesaro worked together to deliver a great superplex to Ivar in one of the best moments of the contest.

Cesaro nearly took Ivar for a swing before Mahal broke it up. Los Lotharios gained control of the contest and looked like the favorites to win. In the end, the Viking Raiders dropped Humberto with the Viking Experience to become the number one contender for the tag team championships.

Out of all the teams that competed in the match, The Viking Raiders were by far the superior ones. Erik and Ivar can realistically dethrone Jimmy and Jey on SmackDown. It's time for The Viking Raiders to get back on top in the tag team division again.

#4. Sami Zayn showcased his talents on WWE SmackDown

Sami Zayn took center stage on WWE SmackDown for another wacky segment. Last week, Johnny Knoxville dumped him out of the ring to prove himself worthy of entering the Royal Rumble match.

To get back at him, Zayn debuted InZayn, a stunt segment intended to rival Johnny Knoxville's Jackass. The Conspiracy Theorist said that no one was better at being a jackass than him.

He had two associates wheel him out in a shopping cart to launch him up a ramp, over the ring, and to the other side. Rick Boogs appeared to distract him when he stalled and allowed Shinsuke Nakamura to plant him with a kick.

The babyfaces threw Zayn to the floor where he hit his intended target, much to the delight of Pat McAfee. Zayn's performance lifted the entire segment. He again showed why he deserves to be on television every week.

Many will question why Zayn is focusing on Knoxville instead of the Intercontinental Championship. However, he is one of the few men who can put on an excellent comedic storyline with a celebrity.

#3. Sheamus and Ricochet put on a good contest on WWE SmackDown

Ricochet and Sheamus competed in a one-on-one contest on WWE SmackDown. The latter broke Ridge Holland's nose at WWE Day 1, and The Irishman was looking to exact revenge.

Sheamus used his strength to punish Ricochet early, keeping him grounded. However, the latter hit a beautiful sunset flip powerbomb that almost secured the win. The former WWE Champion fought back, pinning Ricochet off with a thunderous Brogue Kick.

While there were not many quality matches on this week's show, this bout was the best of the night, entertaining from start to finish.

It's unfortunate to see Ricochet in such a spot on the roster. He is amongst the best in the ring, but the creative team hasn't given him too many big matches as of late.

Holland's injury has put his storyline with Sheamus and Cesaro on the backfoot. Hopefully, the creative team will push him once again when he gets back to the ring.

#2. Lita showed Charlotte Flair who the real Queen is on WWE SmackDown

Lita returned to WWE SmackDown after nearly two decades. Huge chants broke out as she joined Michael Cole in the ring for a promo.

Lita said she wanted to compete in the WWE Women's Royal Rumble this year as she believed she had one final run left in her. She wanted to win the Royal Rumble and headline WrestleMania.

Lita was soon interrupted by the blue band's Women's Champion, Charlotte Flair. The Queen reminded her that she beat her friend Trish Stratus at SummerSlam 2019 and effectively retired her.

Lita threw a "giant head" jab that was quickly picked up by the fans, who turned it into a chant. She faked a slap before hitting Flair with the Twist of Fate to end the segment.

WWE did well with the segment ahead of the Royal Rumble. There aren't too many favorites to win this year's 30 women match, and Lita could well win it and challenge Flair for the title.

#1. Seth Rollins got under Roman Reigns’ skin on WWE SmackDown

At the end of the night, Seth Rollins came out on WWE SmackDown to target his opponent for WWE Royal Rumble. After Roman Reigns walked out to the middle, he reminded him of the one-sided record between them in a title match.

The Tribal Chief laughed off the attacks from Rollins and said that he is in “god mode” now. The latter took another shot, saying that Reigns needed The Bloodline to win matches while The Visionary was winning them on his own.

Rollins fired up the promo by stating that he created Reigns and would destroy him for the Universal Championship. The Head of the Table replied that if he was looking for a megastar from RAW, he would have chosen Rollins’ wife, Becky Lynch.

The Usos tried to ambush Rollins, but The Visionary escaped to the ramp to end the segment. It was evident that Rollins had gotten under Reigns’ skin by the end of his promo.

The match between these two men at the Royal Rumble will surely be fantastic. However, the build-up could get better in the days to come. This wasn’t a bad segment as it helped the two men take some shots at each other. The Visionary feels like the biggest threat to Reigns on SmackDown.
