WWE teases giving former 2-time champion his old name back on SmackDown

A current WWE SmackDown Superstar could finally get their old name and gimmick back very soon.

Last week on the blue brand, Tyler Bate finally made his main roster debut. He teamed up with Butch to take on Pretty Deadly in a tag team match, which they won. While Bate got to keep his NXT name and gimmick after arriving on SmackDown, The Bruiserweight did not.

Butch performed in the developmental brand as Pete Dunne, but after he was called up, he was given a new name and gimmick and was allied with Sheamus and Ridge Holland. The Celtic Warrior has been off of WWE TV for several months now, and Holland returned to NXT, leaving the future of The Brawling Brutes in doubt.

On the latest episode of SmackDown, WWE aired a video package of Butch and Tyler Bate at a coffee shop. The inaugural NXT UK Champion told his new partner that it was time to show what British Strong Style was all about.

Tyler Bate then told Butch to look within and ask himself what that name was going to be. They then showed a close-up of Butch's face, and before he could answer, the video ended. This could be a tease that he is going back to being called Pete Dunne.
