"Did that compel anybody to go see it?" - Wrestling veteran discusses Cody Rhodes and AJ Styles' confrontation (Exclusive)

Former WWE manager Dutch Mantell spoke about Cody Rhodes facing AJ Styles at Backlash.

The two stars were in the ring for a contract signing this week. Styles spoke about how he and Cody both traveled parallel paths to get to where they were in their careers. He claimed that he respected Rhodes a lot but that would not stop him from putting the champ through the test at Backlash. The American Nightmare reciprocated respect for Styles but claimed that he would still retain the gold during their bout.

On this week's episode of Sportskeeda Wrestling's Smack Talk, Mantell claimed it would be a good match given that both Cody Rhodes and AJ Styles were great workers. He felt this week's contract signing provided a good build-up to the feud.

"It is what it is. It's Cody vs. AJ. So if you wanna see it, see it. But did that compel anybody to go see it? Eh, not really. But if you were going to, it's a good setup to it." [From 37:01 onwards]

When the two stars shook hands on SmackDown, it was evident that they would not take it easy on each other at Backlash.

It will be interesting to see if Cody Rhodes can continue his run as the Undisputed WWE Champion by taking down AJ Styles at Backlash.
