Several former WWE Superstars have been able to make the successful move over to the acting business following their departure from the business.

Former stars like The Rock, John Cena, and even Batista have successfully made the move into a new career. But there are many others who have been able to dip their toes into the acting pond whilst still part of WWE.

The Miz, Randy Orton, and Triple H have all had starring roles in movies, but several other current stars' acting skills have been completely overlooked.

The following list looks at just five current WWE Superstars who have appeared in movies whilst still working for WWE:

#5. Former WWE Champion Rey Mysterio

Rey Mysterio was one of many WWE Superstars who appeared in Ready To Rumble back in 2000. This appearance is well-known, but his next step into the acting world seems to have skated under the radar.

Interestingly, Mysterio was hired to be part of the Freddy vs Jason movie in 2003. The former World Champion worked as a stunt double for Robert Englund's character of Freddy during the boiler room dream scene.

Rey isn't the only one in his family to be bitten by the acting bug. His uncle Rey Misterio played a killer luchador El Mascarado in Wrestlemaniac, which was released in 2006.

It should be noted that Mysterio's face isn't actually seen in the movie, (not that he would be recognized anyway) but he doesn't even look similar to Robert Englund.

Mysterio was part of the acting business much earlier in his career. He reached the pinnacle of his WWE stint when he lifted the World Championship just three years later.

The fact that Mysterio has been at the top of his game over the past two decades could be the main reason why the former World Champion hasn't been able to act in more movies.

At the age of 46, Mysterio could make the switch over to the acting business when his wrestling career winds down.

#4. Former WWE 24/7 Champion R-Truth

R-Truth is a veteran of WWE and a record 51-time 24/7 Champion. Truth has been seen as one of the company's most entertaining characters for most of his career, so it comes as no surprise that he has also made the move into acting.

Truth had his first taste of the spotlight when he made a cameo appearance in Chris Rock's movie Head of State back in 2003. Truth played himself in the movie, before moving on to make a cameo appearance in the 2008 film The Wrestler.

Several other wrestlers appeared in the movie including Jay Lethal, Chuck Taylor, Austin Aries, Drew Gulak, and Cesaro.

The former Champion then went on to play a much bigger role in 2018 film Blood Brothers, when he portrayed Blaine. Blood Brothers was a WWE Studios movie and also starred Trey Songz, Fetty Wap and Jack Kesy.

Truth also appeared in 2016 film Dance Break Revolution as DJ Ron Killings, a straight-to-DVD movie that starred the former Champion as a working DJ.

#3. Former WWE Champion Edge

Edge is a former 11-time WWE World Champion, but he was forced to retire from the business following an injury back in 2011. After his departure from the company, Edge went on to make quite a splash in the acting business. He is well-known for his role in Vikings.

Interestingly, Edge didn't actually start his acting career when his wrestling career came to an end; he was able to work both simultaneously. The Rated R Superstar made his first acting appearance as part of Beyond The Mat in 1999 when he portrayed himself in an uncredited appearance.

He later appeared as Lochlan in action-adventure Highlander: Endgame a year later, alongside Adrian Paul and Christopher Lambert. Of course, his acting career really caught fire when he retired from WWE in 2011. But he has since been able to make a successful return to the business after more than nine years.

Edge's last movie role came back in 2020 when he appeared alongside Kelsey Grammer and Denise Richards in Money Plane. It appears that The Rated R Superstar is now focused on his wrestling career.

#2. Current WWE Superstar MVP

MVP recently made his return to WWE TV after undergoing knee surgery. The former United States Champion returned to WWE as part of the Royal Rumble back in 2020, for the first time in a decade. The star's first run in the company came to an end in 2010, but ahead of his release, he was able to star in his first movie.

MVP is another wrestler who has ventured into the acting business following his role in MacGruber in 2010. The former Champion appeared in a cameo appearance in the movie alongside several fellow WWE Superstars like Chris Jericho, The Great Khali, Big Show, Kane, and Mark Henry.

The movie was a comedy-based parody of the long-running TV series MacGyver but seemingly didn't garner the critical response or the success that was expected.

Interestingly, this was the only time MVP made the move over to the acting business since he has been focused on working as a wrestler and releasing several rap songs over the past decade instead.

#1. Former WWE Champion Seth Rollins

Seth Rollins has become one of the biggest stars in WWE over the past decade and it appears that wrestling isn't the only business that he has been able to lend his talent to.

The former world champion appeared in a cameo role for the 2016 movie Sharknado 4: The 4th Awakens. It was the fourth installment of the made-for-TV sci-fi comedy disaster movies and Rollins wasn't the first WWE star to appear in the franchise.

Fellow stars Kurt Angle and Chris Jericho have also made appearances, but Rollins' role might have been the shortest. The Visionary was part of a scene that lasted less than a minute. He is interestingly called AstroTech Lopez and appears in full Shield gear.

Rollins also notes that he is going to "superkick" a storm as part of his short role where he is seen attempting to protect Mount Rushmore from the shark storm. Rollins' real name is Colby Lopez so it appears that he decided to retain his real name as part of the movie.
