Queen Elizabeth's memorial, which was held on September 26, 2022, witnessed the absence of Kate Middleton. However, before the Queen's demise, Prince William was present near her along with the rest of the royal family members. While there were speculations regarding Kate's absence, the reason for the same has now been revealed.

According to an excerpt from the book The Making of a King: King Charles III and the Modern Monarchy, written by Robert Hardman, the three children of the Princess of Wales were starting a "new term at a new school" and so any one parent needed to stay with the kids.

Hardman's book is scheduled to be released on January 18, 2024, and it features the story of the King's journey over the years, starting from the time when he served as the Prince of Wales.

Kate Middleton did not attend the memorial of Queen Elizabeth

As mentioned earlier, Kate Middleton was missing at the memorial of Queen Elizabeth. LBC states that Prince Harry and William reportedly had a dispute since Meghan Markle was restricted to attend the memorial.

Kate was in Windsor with her three children and she reportedly spent some time with the Queen a few weeks before her death. The initial speculations believed that Middleton was also not allowed to come for the funeral like Meghan but they turned out to be false. An insider also claimed in the book:

"It was by luck rather than judgement, but it made it a lot easier to tell Harry he was coming alone."

Prince Harry reportedly attempted to establish contact with his brother regarding the travel arrangements but there was no response. Robert Hardman's book stated that William possibly avoided the conversation since the family was going through a tough phase after the Queen's death.

"We can easily image the dread with which the [then] Prince of Wales approached that call. The Sussexes' capacity for taking offence was well known and everyone was conscious that any conversation could end up in the public domain – as, indeed, this one did three months later."

Kate Middleton paid tribute to Queen Elizabeth II with Prince William on multiple occasions

Back in September last year, Kate Middleton and Prince William arrived at the St Davids Cathedral in Pembrokeshire, Wales. Kate was spotted in the Silver Jubilee diamond and pearl earrings given by the Queen, as per Vogue magazine.

The duo put a bouquet near the picture of Elizabeth and they later met with the fans waiting outside the church. Kate reportedly arrived late since their helicopter landed somewhere else due to the bad weather conditions. They also shared some pictures on X (Twitter) and wrote:

"Today we remember the extraordinary life and legacy of Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth. We all miss you. W & C."

Kate was spotted in similar outfits during King Charles' coronation ceremony held in July 2023 alongside the Festival of Remembrance in November 2022.
