Justin Timberlake recently took to social media to announce a free show at the Orpheum Theatre, in his hometown, Memphis, Tennesse on January 19. This announcement came after the singer removed all his posts from his social media accounts, sparking speculations about a new release. He also changed his profile picture to an image of him looking at his reflection in a car's rearview mirror.

"Tickets are free but space is limited," he captioned his post.

As soon as the news about the free concert went viral, fans took to social media to react to the same.

"Oh he's desperate": Netizens react to Justin Timberlake's latest announcement

Apart from his tweet, Justin Timberlake also posted a set of photos on Instagram, with the main image being one of a billboard that included details about his "one night only" concert. He also shared a teaser of an unreleased track on social media, giving fans a glimpse into his work.

Netizens took to the comments section of @PopCrave's tweet and reacted to Justin Timberlake's announcement about the free show. They claimed that nobody would show up even if the singer paid them to do so. Others also believed that the singer was acting "desperate" after Britney Spears' memoir, where she shed light on her 3-year relationship with the artist.

In her memoir, Britney Spears mentioned that Justin allegedly ended their three-year relationship via a text while she was filming for the music video of Overprotected (Darkchild Remix). As per E! News, she wrote:

"For as much as Justin hurt me, there was a huge foundation of love and when he left me, I was devastated. When I say devastated, I mean I could barely speak for months. Whenever anyone asked me about him, all I could I do is cry. I don’t know if I was clinically in shock, but it felt that way."

When Justin Timberlake removed all his posts from Instagram, some believed this was a hint about a new release. However, others believed it was linked to Spears' memoir.

Timbaland, Timberlake's collaborator of two decades, told Variety in 2023 that the singer planned on returning with a new album, marking a return of the "fun Justin."

"It's like 'FutureS*x/LoveSounds' but nothing too heavy. Just giving you what you'd expect from us: not overthought, the lyrics are not so deep, it's bob your head, dance-to-it music," Timbaland said.

Justin Timberlake recently made headlines when he reunited with NSYNC last fall to record their first song in more than 20 years, Better Place.
