American supermodel Beverly Johnson and financier Brian Maillian exchanged vows at a secret wedding ceremony held in Las Vegas on October 13, 2023. Johnson recently revealed the news during an interview on Sirius XM's Sway in the Morning podcast.

Johnson described the marriage as a birthday gift from Brian Maillian, 73. She said that two days before her birthday, he repeatedly asked her what she wanted as a gift. Narrating how the events unfolded, she said:

"I said, 'I know what I want for my birthday.' He said, 'what?' I said, 'I want to get married.' He went, 'OK.' And I went, 'Did he say OK?'"

Beverly Johnson, 71, whose net worth is reported to be $5 million, as per CelebrityNetWorth, initially planned on taking up a career in the field of law. However, she soon developed an interest in modeling and acting, which contributed to her making a name for herself in the industry.

In an interview with The Philadelphia Tribune, she revealed that she wanted to become a lawyer as a child, as she witnessed criminals being caught on television. However, speaking about her career as a model, she said:

"It was so lucrative that when I went back to college, I asked the dean if I could have some time off to pursue modeling. Much to my surprise, he said all right. In fact, I think it’s because of the fact that he agreed that I went on to have a successful modeling career."

During the 70s, she appeared on the covers of multiple publications. Her work with Glamour Magazine helped her rise to fame as the outlet made record-breaking sales when she was featured on the front cover. She was then approached by US Vogue in 1974 and became the first black model to appear on the cover.

Beverly Johnson soon began earning more after she took on projects in the film and television industry. She also worked as a singer and released an album titled Don't Lose The Feeling in 1979. She has authored several books as well, including The Face That Changed It All: A Memoir.

She made guest appearances on America's Next Top Model and was a judge on She's Got the Look. Her filmography also includes TV shows such as Law & Order, Red Shoe Diaries, RuPaul's Drag U, and more. She is currently part of a Broadway show titled Beverly Johnson: In Vogue.

Beverly Johnson revealed to People magazine in July 2020 that she was engaged to Brian Maillian. She said that the proposal took place during an event held at Palm Springs and the supermodel expressed her feelings about the same. She said:

"I was like, 'How the heck did that happen?' I was saying I'm never going to get married again."

Speaking about being with someone close to her in age, she continued:

"This is the first time I've dated someone so close to my age! We know the same songs and we've lived through a lot of the same things."

Johnson was earlier married to Billy Potter from 1971 to 1975 and Danny Sims from 1977 to 1979, as per Page Six.
