Deshaun Watson makes thoughts clear on Tom Brady kicking off FOX broadcasting deal with Cowboys vs Browns

Tom Brady may have retired from the National Football League but fans will see, or hear, a lot of the seven-time Super Bowl champion when the 2024 season kicks off in early September.

FOX brought Brady on board their broadcasting team by handing him a big fat cheque amounting to a reported $375,000,000 over a period of ten years. Earlier this week, FOX Sports announced that the NFL icon would make his broadcasting debut when the Dallas Cowboys travel to Cleveland to take on Deshaun Watson's Browns for their season opener.

On his 'Lockerverse' podcast, Watson was asked for his thoughts on Brady handling broadcasting duties for their first game of the season.

Watson said:

"That's dope as hell, super dope. The GOAT get to watch, you know. So [I] got no choice but to put on a show."

Tom Brady's FOX job reportedly led to Greg Olsen's demotion

Big sporting personalities in the broadcasting booth is certainly not a recent development in the NFL.

More recently, Troy Aikman and Greg Olsen have made their way into broadcasting since hanging up their cleats. Now, it appears it's Tom Brady's turn.

However, Brady's $375,000,000 deal with FOX comes with a caveat.

NFL fans grew quite fond of Olsen's analysis but FOX has reportedly demoted the Panthers icon from 2024 onwards.

Olsen will now be on the second-team broadcast team after serving as the lead NFL analyst since Troy Aikman left for ESPN.

Per The Athletic's Andrew Marchand, Olsen's FOX salary will also see a steep $7 million cut. He will now earn just $3 million 2024 onwards.

Despite never calling a game in his career, Brady, on the other hand, will earn an average of $37.5 million every year for 10 years. Before Brady came to town, Tony Romo was the highest-earning broadcaster earning a reported $16 million annually.

While we'll see a lot of Brady 2024 onwards, Bill Belichick will also be in action this year. The legendary head coach didn't manage to land a coaching job this year but he will make regular appearances on ManningCast alongside Eli and Peyton Manning.
