"I just train with the boys" - Denice Zamboanga says the Philippines are lacking female fighters in MMA

ONE women's atomweight MMA star Denice Zamboanga is preparing for the biggest fight of her career as she gets her first-ever shot at the division's world title currently held by Stamp Fairtex at ONE 167 on June 7.

With the event drawing closer, 'The Menace' is doing her best to prepare for whatever Stamp might throw her way, but she faces a great difficulty in training camp.

In an interview with Calf Kick Sports, Denice Zamboanga lamented the lack of female MMA fighters in her home country and explained how she gets around that problem:

"You can count it on my own hands, you know. There are not a lot of female [fighters] in the Philippines. Also, I don't have a lot of training partners who are females here in the Philippines. So I just train with the boys."

There are pros and cons in training with the opposite sex, but for someone that hits like a truck in Stamp, Zamboanga training with the men just might be the ace up her sleeve.

A respectable striker in her own right, the T-Rex MMA product would be remiss to try and do so with Stamp who has claimed ONE world titles in Muay Thai and kickboxing.

Speaking with ONE Championship, Denice Zamboanga shared that her grappling skills will give her the best chance at winning:

"Ever since we started training together [at Fairtex], I've always been more knowledgeable in grappling, and I feel I can use that against her in this match."

Zamboanga versus Stamp will take place in the main event of ONE 167 inside the Impact Arena in Bangkok, Thailand.
