The Players Championship is one of the most prestigious golfing tournaments. It once offered the highest prize purse in the entire world. It began in 1974. Since then, it has gaiend major status. Many professional golfers aspire to play in this prestigious tournament due to the pedigree and history attached to it.

Similarly, the golf course where the tournament is held at also has significant status, and many desire to play on the same grass where some of golf's biggest legends once played. The Players Championship is held at the Sports Complex in Palm Valley, Florida. It is regarded as one of the most-prized locations for golf.

Although many golf fanatics can go and play on the same course, the fees required for admission are pretty unreal and downright astounding, according to some people on social media. 'NUCLR GOLF' recently posted a picture of the fees of 1 round at the TPC Sawgrass, the home of the Players Championship. It costs around $900 to play 18 holes at the venue.

The picture inspired a plethora of reactions. Many called out the fees for being extravagant and unnecessary. There were many who called out the golf prices and the recent splurge at prominent venues around the country.


Scottie Scheffler is the current Players Championship winner

The Players Championship is easily one of the most awaited tournaments of the PGA Tour, and the winner receives a massive boost in his overall rankings. Scottie Scheffler won the event in spectacular fashion in March 2023 and reserved the world number 1 spot in the OWGR rankings.

Additionally, he also took home the winners share of $4.5 million, which is the most for any golfing event in the world. Scottie built a hefty six-shot lead by the end of the tournament and won it pretty comfortably while his competitors scraped for points.

The American golfer looked fearless on the TPC Sawgrass and completely dominated from the first round itself. Scheffler finished the event at 17-under 271 while becoming only the third player ever to win at the TPC Sawgrass with all four rounds in the 60s. Special competitions often require special players, and Scottie Scheffler took the challenge and completed it in spectacular fashion.
