How much will the PGA Championship 2023 winner get? Full prize money purse explored

The PGA Championship 2023 enters its final round on Sunday, May 21. The major championship held at the Oak Hill Country Club will see golfers remaining after the Friday cut compete for the top prize. The major has a prize purse of $17.5 million, a $2.5 million increase from a year ago.

According to the PGA Tour's prize money distribution chart, the winner of the PGA Championship 2023 will bag a whopping $3,150,000 along with the prestigious Wanamaker Trophy. This is the standard 18 percent payout of the total prize. The leaderboard, led by the likes of Brooks Koepka, Viktor Hovland, Bryson DeChambeau, and Scottie Scheffler, among others, will see tight competition for the big prize.

Apart from the paycheck, the PGA Championship winner will also earn 100 Official World Golf Ranking points and 600 FedEx Cup points. This is the maximum points for any tournament in men's golf. The champion will also earn other benefits, including a five-plus season exemption on the PGA Tour, a berth on the major for life and other exemptions.


2023 PGA Championship prize money

While the PGA Championship 2023 winner takes the major share of the prize purse, the runner-up will settle for a $1,890,000 paycheck. The golfer finishing third will win $1,190,000, while the fourth-placed golfer will bag $840,000. It is pertinent to note that the major started off with a 156-player field. With a cut made after 36 holes, all remaining golfers will now receive a share of the prize purse.
