Rumour: Tottenham set to swoop for Belgium hero Divock Origi

Divock Origi celebrates scoring the winner for Belgium during their World Cup match against Russia

Tottenham are set to abandon their pursuit of Romelu Lukaku in favour of his Belgium team mate Divock Origi, who recently scored the winner for his country against Russia in the World Cup, according to the Mirror.

Origi has been a target for Tottenham long before the World Cup, with the London clubs scouts keeping tabs on the Lille teenager for around a year.

The 19-year-old striker was included in the Red Devils’ World Cup squad by coach Marc WIlmots, who saw him capable enough to fill in the void left by Aston VIlla’s Christian Benteke who is out of action with a long term injury.

New Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino is keen to add some more fire power up front as current Spurs strikers Roberto Soldado and Emmanuel Adebayor have both been tipped to depart White Hart Lane this summer.

Tottenham could face some serious competition for Origi’s signature as Real Madrid are also monitoring the striker.
