Jesus Navas signs lifetime contract with Sevilla; it includes 100 per cent salary donation

Sevilla right-back Jesus Navas has reportedly signed a life-time contract at the club. It involves playing for free till December and taking on any role post-that.

The 38-year-old has provided two assists in 38 games across competitions. Both assists have come in 28 outings in La Liga, where Sevilla are languishing in 12th place after 36 games and set to miss out on European football next season.

With his currernt deal expiring at the end of the season and no new deal being offered, Navas had a discussion with the club president and signed a lifetime contract. He will play for 'free' from now till December, with his salary to go to the Sevilla foundation.

Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano tweeted:

"Happy ending for Jesús Navas story as he announced he was leaving Sevilla after not being offered new deal…He’s now signed a lifetime contract with the club after speaking to the president! He will stay until December and after he can work in any job role for Sevilla. Jesús will play for FREE as his salary from now to December will be donated to the Sevilla foundation."

Navas has had a storied career at the La Liga club since arriving from Manchester City in the summer of 2017. Across two stints, he has amassed 686 appearances across competitions, contributing 37 goals and 119 assists since his debut in 2003.

Jesus Navas has had success with Sevilla either side of his stint with Manchester City last decade. The decorated full-back has won eight titles with the club across both stints, including four UEFA Europa League titles.

The most recent one came in the 2022-23 season, with the Andalusian club beating Jose Mourinho's AS Roma 4-1 on penalties after a 1-1 draw after 120 minutes.

Navas has also won two Copa del Rey, one UEFA Super Cup and one Supercopa Espana at the club. With City, the 38-year-old won the 2013-14 Premier League and two League Cup titles. He has had success with Spain as well, winning the 2012 European Championships, beating Italy 4-0 in the final.
