Jurgen Klopp drops major hint that he’s retiring from football management after Liverpool exit

Outgoing Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has opened up on his future in the sport ahead of his last game as boss against Wolverhampton Wanderers. The German insisted that he would take a long break from the sport and was also contemplating not making a return.

He said (via @fabriziorom on Instagram):

“It will be a long break, for sure”, says Jurgen Klopp asked on his future For sure I’m not returning soon. It might even be it. My time in England is definitely over because I’ll never coach another team here, it’s over in Premier League. If I manage again, it will not be around the corner."

The 57-year-old is set to take charge of his final game as Reds boss in the Premier League. Since taking up the mantle from Brendan Rodgers in October 2015, he has helped establish Liverpool as a dominant force both in England as well as in Europe. In his nine-year stint, the Merseysiders won the Premier League and Champions League once, along with an FA Cup triumph and two League Cup trophies.

Klopp confirmed back in January that he would not continue as the manager anymore. In what was promising to be a memorable season, the side ended up falling short in their pursuit of multiple trophies, finishing third in the league and unable to get past the quarter-finals of the Europa League. He is set to be replaced by current Feyenoord manager Arne Slot.

Transfer guru issues update on future of Liverpool star at club

Luis Diaz has been linked with a move away from Anfield.

Fabrizio Romano insisted that Liverpool are not looking to sell attacker Luis Diaz. The journalist confirmed that the club were happy with the player and would keep him despite interest from elsewhere.

Speaking to GiveMeSport, he said:

“For Luis Diaz there is a lot of interest. We always have reports from clubs from Spain and France. But, at the moment, I can guarantee that Liverpool trust Diaz and want to continue with him.”

“Let’s see if crazy proposals will arrive. At the moment, Liverpool are still very happy with Luis and Luis is also happy at Liverpool. The situation is quiet," he added.

This comes after reports claimed that Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain were looking to sign the player. Further, Mundo Deportivo reported that the Reds were unhappy with the performance levels of the winger.

Diaz made 50 appearances across all competitions for Liverpool this season, bagging 13 goals and five assists. His skill and quality on the left wing could prove to be valuable assets for incoming manager Arne Slot.
