#5 Latest winning goal scored for Manchester United in Champions League history

Scoring late goals is typical of Manchester United. The Red Devils are renowned for their never-say-die spirit and have fashioned some wonderful comeback wins and late goals throughout history.

They have always been a force to be reckoned with in the dying embers of games. It has become part of the culture at Manchester United. Cristiano Ronaldo scored a goal in the 95th minute of the Red Devils' Champions League group stage encounter against Villarreal on September 9.

After going behind in the first half, the Red Devils pulled off a spectacular comeback win and earned three very crucial points. By scoring Manchester United's second goal of the game, Ronaldo broke the record for the latest winning goal scored for the club in their Champions League history.

#4 First player to score in five different Euros

Portugal did not have a great outing at Euro 2020. Despite boasting plenty of world-class talent in their ranks, Fernando Santos' men couldn't make it past the Round of 16. They were eliminated by Belgium thanks to a Thorgan Hazard worldie.

Although they only played four matches at the tournament, it was a Portuguese player who walked away with the Golden Boot at the tournament. Cristiano Ronaldo scored five goals in four appearances and provided an assist as well.

In doing so, he broke his own record to become the first player to score in five different Euros. Ronaldo scored two goals at Euro 2004, one in 2008, three each in 2012 and 2016. He also holds the record for most goals scored at the Euros with 14 to his name.

Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi are two of the greatest footballers of all time. On Tuesday night, Lionel Messi scored Paris Saint-Germain's only goal in their win against Manchester City. It was Lionel Messi's first goal for Paris Saint-Germain and in doing so, he equalled Ronaldo's record of scoring against 36 teams in the Champions League.

It didn't take long for the Manchester United man to reclaim his record. Ronaldo scored as late as the 95th minute of the Red Devils' game against Villarreal to once again erase Messi's name from this particular record.

Ronaldo has now scored against 37 different teams in the Champions League and it is the most of any player in the history of the tournament.

Cristiano Ronaldo made his maiden Champions League appearance for Sporting Lisbon in 2002. He has gone on to make 178 appearances in the continental competition. By appearing for Manchester United in their latest game against Villarreal, Ronaldo broke another record.

This time it was Iker Casillas' record for most number of Champions League appearances. Cristiano Ronaldo's former teammate had made a whopping 177 appearances in the Champions League.

#1 Most international goals scored in men's football

On September 2nd, Portugal squared up against the Republic of Ireland in a 2022 FIFA World Cup Qualifier. Cristiano Ronaldo and co. were nowhere near their best and allowed Ireland to take the lead in the 45th minute of the game through John Egan.

It looked like the night was going to end in disappointment for Portugal until Ronaldo took matters into his own hands in the closing stages of the game. He produced two thumping headers in the 89th and 96th minute to help Portugal fashion a sensational comeback win.

Cristiano Ronaldo scored his 110th and 111th goal of his international career that night. In doing so, he broke Iran's Ali Daei's record for most number of international goals scored in men's football.
