It's been seven months since the launch of CS2, and fans can now finally swap between their left and right hands at will after the April 26 update. Swapping hands mid-round is probably one of the most popular features the game ever had, and in CS2, it will be just as swift and smooth as it was in CS:GO.
Here's how to use the swapping mechanic in CS2 and why it became such a popular move in the first place.
Swap hands in CS2 mid-round
CS2 players can set their preferred hand in the settings menu like the good old CS:GO and then using the 'H' key on US keyboards, they can swap hands temporarily mid-round. Swapping weapons between your hands will be smooth and seamless, so you don't have to worry about it ruining immersion. You can also enjoy flexing your CS2 gun skins by swapping them around.
CS:GO had this popular mechanic but since the game updated to CS2 on September 27, 2023, fans noticed several changes along with a lot of missing elements, including not being able to find previously saved custom practice maps and being unable to swap hands. In fact, at launch, the left-handed player model was completely missing from CS2, which was not the case with CS:GO, a game that famously featured a left-hand option. This had even professionals like kennyS complaining.
In CS:GO, players could access the developer console to bind keys to the left and right hands, and they could swap around mid-round. The process has now been simplified in CS2, and Valve has also introduced a few other changes such as a lineup reticle that helps with grenade lineups and changes to the buy many to help with saving and with dropped weapons.
One thing of note is that Dust II has returned to the Active Duty map pool. Bringing back Dust is bound to increase the active CS2 player count since the map is a fan favorite.
