James Anderson was booed by Indian supporters during 3rd ODI at Trent Bridge

England’s pace leader James Anderson found himself to be the target of an overwhelmingly large Indian contingent at Nottingham during the 3rd ODI between England and India at Trent Bridge on Saturday, when he was booed throughout the match.

In a carnival like atmosphere, a majority of the capacity crowd in the stadium yesterday donned Indian colours. The booing started when Anderson walked out to bat in the first innings

With India firmly in control throughout the match, the booing for Anderson continued throughout the match, especially in the second innings. The huge number of Indian supporters booed whenever the ball and Anderson made contact, or whenever Anderson went to his fielding position near the boundary rope.

Trent Bridge was the venue where Anderson and Ravindra Jadeja were involved in a huge controversy during the Test series when the Indian camp levelled charges against the 32-year-old for ‘pushing’ Jadeja in the corridor leading to the dressing room during lunch break on Day 2. The England camp maintained innocence and reciprocated by levelling charges against the Indian all-rounder for ‘aggressively’ charging towards Anderson.

When ICC match referee David Boon fined Jadeja 50% of his match fee, BCCI appealed against the verdict. The incident grew into a huge controversy, with ICC appointing a judicial commissioner, Gordon Lewis, who found both players not guilty, citing lack of conclusive evidence in both cases.
