DC vs MI, IPL 2024: Toss result and playing XIs for today’s match, umpires list and pitch report

Delhi Capitals (DC) face Mumbai Indians (MI) in match 43 of IPL 2024 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Saturday, April 27. The DC vs MI clash will be the first game of a double-header. While Delhi have won four and lost five of their nine matches, Mumbai have won only three and lost five of their eight games.

When Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians met in the first half of IPL 2024 at the Wankhede on April 7, MI hammered DC by 29 runs. Batting first, Mumbai Indians put up 234-5 before holding Delhi Capitals to 205-8.

In their previous match, DC beat Gujarat Titans by four runs in a high-scoring thriller. Batting first, Delhi put up 224-4 as captain Rishabh Pant smashed 88* off 43. In their chase, Gujarat gave Delhi a scare before finishing on 220-8.

As for Mumbai, they were thumped by Rajasthan Royals by nine wickets in their previous match in Jaipur. Batting first, MI were held to 179-9. A ton from Yashasvi Jaiswal then saw RR register a resounding win.

Today's DC vs MI toss result

Mumbai Indians won the toss and have opted to bowl first. Explaining the reason behind the move, captain Hardik Pandya said:

“The ground is small. It's better to bat second and chase down whatever comes our way.”

MI have made one change to their side. Gerald Coetzee is out due to a stomach bug, so Luke Wood comes in. For DC, Kumar Kushagra replaces Privthvi Shaw.

According to Sanjay Manjrekar, the pitch is quite bare; there's no grass here. It's going to be slightly better for spinners, he feels.

Manjrekar, though, added that the surface is rock hard, like a shade of marble, which is a problem for bowlers. He concluded that there will be nothing much for the seamers in the pitch.
