India v Australia - T20I Series: Game 5

The Rajasthan Royals (RR) will square off against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the 70th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati on Sunday, May 19. It is the last league game of this year's cash-rich league.

KKR have had an excellent campaign this year, with the franchise finishing at the top of the table. They currently have 19 points from 13 games and will look to continue their winning momentum.

RR, on the other hand, have slumped after an excellent start to the season, where they won eight out of nine matches. The Royals have lost four straight games and will be desperate to bounce back before the playoffs. Moreover, a win here will confirm their place in the top two of the points table.

With two teams going up against each other, a cracking contest beckons fans in Guwahati tonight. The wicket at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium made life difficult for batters in the last game at this venue and is likely to remain the same tonight.

On that note, let's take a look at three players who could score the most runs in today's RR vs KKR match.

#1 Shreyas Iyer - KKR

The Kolkata Knight Riders skipper has had an indifferent campaign this year. His inconsistent performance hasn't caught the eye due to Phil Salt and Sunil Narine's superlative form at the top.

Shreyas Iyer has aggregated 287 runs in 12 games at an average of 31.89 and a strike rate of just over 135. With Salt leaving the camp to join the England squad, Iyer will have to assume more responsibility tonight. If the right-handed batter gets his eyes in, fans can expect a big knock from him against the Royals.

#2 Sanju Samson - RR

The Rajasthan Royals skipper has been in excellent form in IPL 2024. Sanju Samson was also rewarded with a call-up for the 2024 T20 World Cup ahead of KL Rahul and Dinesh Karthik.

While Yashasvi Jaiswal and Jos Buttler have struggled for consistency, Samson has shouldered the responsibility to hold the team together. The right-handed batter has accumulated 504 runs in 13 matches at an average of 56 and a strike rate of 156.52, including five half-centuries.

Samson will look to continue the good work as the Royals look to return to the winning ways.

#3 Riyan Parag - RR

The middle-order batter has been the most improved batter in this competition. Riyan Parag copped a lot of criticism for not living up to his potential in the last few years, but he has come good this season, providing solidity to RR's middle order. Parag is currently the fourth-highest run-scorer in the tournament with 531 runs in 13 matches at an average of 59 and a strike rate of 152.58.

Playing in his home ground, Parag will hope to continue the form against KKR and entertain fans on Friday night. Moreover, his form will be very crucial for RR heading into the playoffs.
