Joe Root celebrates his century on day 4

India entered the day 4 with a chance to force a win in this first Test and in turn gain an advantage in this five-match series, but the overnight last wicket pair of Joe Root and James Anderson continued to frustrate the visitors. Joe Root quickly moved on to his century with back-to-back boundaries off Mohammed Shami as India posed no threat whatsoever to the home team after an impressive performance in day 3.
