Is Deion Sanders a good fit for Florida if Gators move past Billy Napier in 2025?

There have been a lot of rumors about the future of Colorado Buffaloes coach Deion Sanders and what he will do once his sons are no longer playing college football for the Colorado Buffaloes. He has been rumored to join a few programs throughout the last two offseasons but one continues to make the rounds: the University of Florida.

The Florida Gators currently have Billy Napier as their football coach but he is currently on the hot seat after going 11-14 (6-10 SEC) so far in his tenure with the Gators. One major issue people have with Napier is his questionable playcalling during games and believe that adding coach Deion Sanders to replace him would be a significant upgrade.

The Wright Way Network's Steve Rivera said he expects this move to happen by 2025. He said:

"One huge option (for Sanders) could be in the SEC. A homecoming of sorts for college and NFL royalty. In Gainesville, at the University of Florida, Sanders would be the superstar name with D-1 credentials to resurrect a fading dynasty in the Gators. The clock is ticking on Billy Napier and time is not on his side. With Deion Sanders prime to move on to bigger and better in a place that is already home, expect him in the Swamp come the 2025 season." h/t Glory Colorado

Deion Sanders is not leaving Colorado after the 2024 season

The big idea that Deion Sanders is going to leave the Colorado Buffaloes after two years does not seem as plausible as one would think. It takes time to build a program and the Colorado Buffaloes are now in the Big 12 Conference, which is one of the top conferences in college football. He is also building a culture and shaping a roster the way he wants it to be, which would just reset the clock if he leaves.

The "homecoming of sorts" is a stretch in itself, with coach Prime coming out of Florida State University, a school four hours away from the University of Florida. Sanders also has publicly stated he wants to spend for the next 5-10 years in Boulder and they are giving Deion Sanders things he asks for to help improve the team.

Do not expect to see Coach Prime coaching anywhere but for the Colorado Buffaloes in the near future as the move seems unlikely.
