AEW star Sammy Guevara has been absent from television for the past two months. According to recent reports, fans may have to wait a little longer to see The Spanish God back in action.
On the February 16, 2024, episode of AEW Rampage, Sammy Guevara competed in a No Disqualifications match against Jeff Hardy. During the bout, Guevara awkwardly landed on Jeff Hardy's head, leading to the latter suffering a concussion. The former TNT Champion proceeded to hit a concussed Hardy with his finishing move to pick up the victory.
A miscommunication during the contest seemingly led to Guevara being suspended from the Jacksonville-based promotion for an undisclosed amount of time. According to a recent report by the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, The Spanish God's suspension has not been lifted.
"Sammy Guevara is still suspended from AEW over the miscommunication during the match vs. Jeff Hardy where he hit a GTH on an injured Hardy."
Kevin Nash doesn't get why AEW suspended Sammy Guevara
Sammy Guevara faced heat after inadvertently injuring Jeff Hardy during their match. Many called him out for being unsafe in the ring as he has also injured Jeff's brother, Matt Hardy, in the past. However, WWE veteran Kevin Nash had an interesting reaction to the development.
Speaking on his Kliq This podcast, Kevin Nash questioned why Sammy Guevara was suspended as Darby Allin constantly performed high-risk maneuvers during his matches.
"I just look at it and I say, it's really hard of them to adhere to this concussion protocol when Darby f*****g catapults himself from Mount Olympus through glass onto a concrete floor, and that's okay. The next thing it's going to be (...) they're going to have one of those prefab homes under the f*****g ring, they're going to pull that out and put it together but not the roof, and then they're going to catapult into that and they can fight with a camera over the top of the house, from room to room, through the walls. Sammy Guevara is one of the most talented stars in All Elite Wrestling. However, his unfortunate suspensions have seemingly held him back from reaching his full potential. It will be interesting to see how the company books The Spanish God after his eventual return.
