An unfortunate update regarding a top AEW star's injury status has just surfaced. The nature of the injury has been revealed including some information regarding a possible recovery timeline. The injured star is Eddie Kingston.

The Mad King sustained a leg injury during his match against Gabe Kidd at NJPW Resurgence last week. He ended up finishing the No Ropes Last Man Standing match which saw him lose his NJPW Strong Openweight Championship. Eddie even managed to do the planned post-match spot with The Elite attacking him.

PWInsider has just reported that Eddie Kingston sustained a tubular fracture on his leg during the match. This occurred during a certain spot with the table set up outside the ring and near the metal barricade. Upon being suplexed into the table, his leg came crashing into the rail which resulted in the injury.

It was also reported that Kingston is now waiting for advice on how to deal with the injury. The current belief is that he hopes to return before All In pay-per-view this year. This will all depend on whether he is deemed to require surgery or not.

AEW star Eddie Kingston breaks silence after injury scare

During AEW Dynamite a few days ago, The Young Bucks revealed that Eddie Kingston was out of the Anarchy in the Arena match at AEW Double or Nothing due to the injury he was suffering from.

While the show was ongoing, the former ROH World Championship himself posted an update. He took to Instagram to post a photo of himself in a wheelchair with a walking boot while smoking a cigar. It would appear that despite the injury, he was unfazed by it all.

“Once you’ve wrestled, everything else in life is easy. – Dan Gable,” Kingston wrote in the caption.

An injury of this sort will likely take several months to heal, but in his stead, Darby Allin will take over as the fourth member of Team AEW as they go to war with The Elite at Double or Nothing next week.
